The two social science I picked represents sociology and social psychology. Sociology focuses on the study of groups and groups interactions, societies and social interactions from small and personal groups to larger groups. While social psychology is a scientific study on how we feel about, think about, and behave towards other people around us, and how those people influence our thoughts, feelings, and behavior.

After reading

Aging Successfully
, (Wahl,HW,27 January, 2020). Sociology helped me with the issues with gerontology and what plays a part in life expectancies among countries and for some of the poorer nations you have to look at socio-economic disparities and developing countries with premature deaths (Vaupel et al.2018). This helps with my understanding of gerontology by showing how elders are seen and taken care of by society and loved ones. In some cultures taking care of your elders is a must while in other nursing homes are seen as normal. Social Psychology on the other hand would look at it from the elders point of view. How do they view aging, mentally, physically and emotionally.  If I were to look at this from one perspective (sociology) then I would get only one perspective which would be leave  room to question how do people feel about aging and how they view it.

Having incomplete knowledge leaves room for misunderstanding, misinformation, and biased opinions. Without gathering information from personal experiences I feel builds a disconnections from the information that is to be collected and leaves room for more of an interpretation.
